Mission Ready Kids is our early chapter book series for readers ages 6 to 9. Real sports stories, one illustration in every chapter, and a lesson that comes out of the game instead of a lecture. Written by Avery Vaughn.
The Ride Home
Book 1 in the Mission Ready Kids series
Micah has worked all season for one match, and he loses it in front of everybody. The ride home with his dad is the longest forty minutes of his life. A story about losing, hard work, and what gets said when it matters most.
The Captain
Book 2 in the Mission Ready Kids series
Sofia is the fastest girl on her soccer team, so when Coach Dana hands her the captain's armband, she is sure she already knows the job. She doesn't. A story about passing, trust, and what a captain really does.
Coming soon: Book 3, The Bench, and Book 4, The New Kid, are on their way to Amazon now.
And for the grown-ups in the stands, a companion book for parents, also by Avery Vaughn:
From the Bleachers
A Sports Parent's Field Guide (Kindle e-book)
The most important game your kid plays this season is not on the schedule. It is the one happening in your car, in the stands, and at your kitchen table. A field guide for sports parents on the ride home, the referee, the other parents, and everything we say that our kids actually hear.
